Sen. Wyden Issues Statement on President Trump Demands for Payroll Tax Cut

WASHINGTON, July 17 -- Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Oregon, ranking Democratic member of the Senate Finance Committee, issued the following statement in reaction to a report that President Trump was demanding a payroll tax cut in the next coronavirus relief package:

"Five months into a once-in-a-century economic crisis, Donald Trump still has only one idea: tax cuts.

"A payroll tax cut would do nothing to help the 20 million workers who have lost their jobs, and little . . .
