MEMPHIS, Tennessee, July 4 -- Rep. Stephen Cohen, D-Tennessee, issued the following statement on Independence Day:
"I want to wish all residents of the 9th Congressional District a happy, festive and safe Fourth of July. This is the 244th anniversary of our Declaration of Independence and of an experiment in self-government by the people and for the people that, despite troubling roadblocks in voting rights and criminal justice reform, remains the envy of the world.
