WASHINGTON, June 20 -- Sen. Todd Young, R-Indiana, issued the following news release:
The U.S. Senate passed a resolution officially designating Juneteenth Independence Day. U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.) cosponsored the resolution in recognition of June 19, 1865, when news of the end of slavery reached the Southwestern United States.
