NEWARK, New Jersey, June 16 -- Sen. Bob Menendez, D-New Jersey, ranking Democratic member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, issued the following statement on June 15 in reaction to Moscow's trial against ex-U.S. marine Paul Whelan after he was convicted of espionage and sentenced to 16 years in prison:
