DETROIT, Michigan, June 13 -- Sen. Gary Peters, D-Michigan, issued the following statement regarding the U.S. Air Force's announcement that it will award a contract in July to control the migration of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances in areas around the ex-Wurtsmith Air Force Base near Oscoda as part of the remediation process:
"I pressed the Air Force to act more quickly because the people of Oscoda have waited far too long. That's why I worked to secure additional funding . . .
