EPA, Hawai'i Department of Human Services Reach Agreement to Identify and Close Pollution-Causing Large Cesspools Throughout the State

HONOLULU, Hawaii, June 2 -- The Environmental Protection Agency issued the following news release:
Under a settlement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced, the Hawai'i Department of Human Services (HDHS) has agreed to close all pollution-causing large-capacity cesspools (LCCs) that it owns and operates. EPA banned LCCs in 2005, under the federal Safe Drinking Water Act.
