NEW YORK, April 30 -- PEN America issued the following news release:

PEN America is launching a network to provide rapid response support for artists across the African continent. Amani: Africa Creative Defence Network/* brings together the resources of ten organizations to provide assistance to creatives at risk in Africa; to coordinate adequate support when artists and cultural professionals on the continent face danger because of their work; and to support regional safe havens.
