ACLU of Texas: Data Model Shows Texas COVID-19 Death Toll at 2,000 More People Than Current Projections

HOUSTON, Texas, April 24 -- The American Civil Liberties Union of Texas issued the following news release:

COVID-19 could claim the lives of approximately 2,030 more people in Texas than current projections specify if jail populations are not dramatically and immediately reduced, according to a new epidemiological model released by the ACLU and academic research partners.
