HOUSTON, Texas, April 17 -- Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, issued the following news release on April 16:
U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) was asked to join President Trump's task force to re-open the economy as the nation continues to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
Following a phone call with the president and a bipartisan group of lawmakers this morning, Sen. Cruz said:
"The consequences of the economic shutdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic are serious . . .
