HOUSTON, Texas, March 28 -- The Texas Organizing Project issued the following statement by Devin Branch, lead organizer of Right2Justice campaign, on the compassionate release of people from the Harris County jails:
"The last place we need a coronavirus outbreak is the county jails. That is why we are calling for the immediate release of ALL people held pretrial, unless there is clear evidence that their release would present an unreasonable risk to the safety of the community. . . .
