MANHASSET, New York, March 18 -- Northwell Health issued the following news:

Researchers at the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research are developing new tools to better assess and identify patients at risk for venous thromboembolism (VTE), a condition in which a blood clot forms - most often in the deep veins of the leg, groin or arm. VTE is the most common preventable cause of death in medical and surgical patients.
