WASHINGTON, March 14 -- Rep. Eliot Engel, D-New York, issued the following news release:
Congressman Eliot Engel joined New York House Democrats in writing to Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross calling for an extension to the 2020 census due to the rapidly escalating coronavirus outbreak.
"We write you today to impress upon you the necessity of extending the enumeration period for the 2020 Census due to the social disruption caused by COVID-19," the Members wrote. . . .
