WASHINGTON, March 12 -- The U.S. Department of Defense's Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency issued the following news release on March 11:
The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) announced that Marine Corps Sgt. Duane O. Cole, 23, of Niles, Michigan, killed during World War II, was accounted for on Sept. 3, 2019.
In November 1943, Cole was a member of Company K, 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force, which landed against stiff J . . .
