WASHINGTON, March 12 -- Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-New York, issued the following statement on March 11 regarding the announcement that Chin Mei Tsui has finally been released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody:
"I am relieved and overjoyed that Chin has finally been released from ICE custody. Like so many transgender people detained by ICE, Chin was held in solitary confinement for arbitrary or discriminatory reasons and his health suffered due to the lack of specia . . .
