WASHINGTON, Feb. 27 -- Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-New York, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, issued the following floor remarks on Feb. 26 in support of the Emmett Till Antilynching Act (H.R. 35):
"Madam Speaker, H.R. 35, the 'Emmett Till Antilynching Act,' is long-overdue legislation that would criminalize lynching for the first time under federal law.
"The term 'lynching' generally refers to premeditated public acts of violence--often resulting in deat . . .
