WASHINGTON, Feb. 20 -- The U.S. Department of Defense's Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency issued the following news release on Feb. 18:
The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) announced that Navy Seaman 1st Class Lyal J. Savage, 19, of Dexter, New York, killed during World War II, was accounted for on July 29, 2019.
On Dec. 7, 1941, Savage was assigned to the battleship USS Oklahoma, which was moored at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, when the ship was attacked by Japan . . .
