WASHINGTON, Feb. 12 -- Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-New York, chairwoman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, and Del. Eleanor Holmes-Norton, D-D.C., issued the following statements on Feb. 11:
The Committee on Oversight and Reform voted to pass landmark legislation to grant statehood to the people of the District of Columbia, paving the way for a historic vote on the House floor later this year.
