N.Y. Gov. Cuomo Issues Statement on Investigation of Trans-Phobic Assault in Harlem

ALBANY, New York, Jan. 28 -- Gov. Andrew Cuomo, D-New York, issued the following statement directing the State Police Hate Crimes Task Force to assist in the investigation of trans-phobic assault in Harlem:
"I'm sickened by the incident Friday in which a transgender woman in Harlem was assaulted by two individuals who struck her while hurling trans-phobic slurs.
"No one should ever have to live in fear simply for being who they are. New Yorkers embrace divers . . .
