WASHINGTON, Jan. 17 -- Rep. Antonio Delgado, D-New York, issued the following statement on Jan. 16:
"One year ago today, our nation lost a heroic soul who gave the ultimate sacrifice during her fifth deployment to the Middle East, Senior Chief Petty Officer Shannon M. Kent, of Pine Plains, New York. SCPO Kent was a skilled Navy cryptologist, in addition to being a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and an American hero.
