Sen. Wyden Issues Statement on IRS Failure to Oversee Politically-Active Nonprofits

WASHINGTON, Jan. 10 -- Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Oregon, ranking Democratic member of the Senate Finance Committee, issued the statement on Jan. 9 in reaction to a report by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration on 501c4 enforcement:
"The watchdog report issued today shows that thousands of nonprofits eligible to engage in political activity have failed to properly disclose their existence, and the IRS isn't doing enough to identify noncompliance or enforce penalties. . . .
