WASHINGTON, Dec. 20 -- Rep. Veronica Escobar, D-Texas, issued the following statement after the House voted on the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement:
"As a representative of one of the largest manufacturing regions in North America, a vote for an updated NAFTA is a vote for the more than 23,000 El Pasoans dependent on a prosperous border economy.
"The improvements advanced by House Democrats promote new standards we can build upon to reflect the 21st century . . .
