ALBANY, New York, Dec. 16 -- The Natural Resources Defense Council issued the following news release:
Governor Cuomo signed into law a first-of-its-kind bill that bans the sale and possession with intent to sell of parts of any species that risk extinction if their declines continue and also bans altogether the trade of giraffe parts in New York. The new law embraces the precautionary principle of protecting species before they reach the brink of extinction.
