U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) today met with Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Nominee Dr. Stephen Hahn. Senator Manchin impressed upon Dr. Hahn the important role the FDA has in ending the opioid epidemic, which killed 978 West Virginians in 2018 alone. In 2018, there were over 47,829 opioid related overdose deaths in the US. That's 131 people dying every day from an opioid overdos . . .
