WASHINGTON, Nov. 13 -- Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-New York, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, issued the following opening statement at the markup of a joint resolution (H.J.Res. 79) that would remove the deadline for ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment:
