CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas, Nov. 12 -- AEP Texas, a subsidiary of American Electric Power, issued the following news release:
AEP Texas has received reports in the Rio Grande Valley that scammers are contacting residents threatening to disconnect their electric service unless an immediate payment is made. Also, there have been reports of individuals either calling or going door-to-door telling residents or businesses that their electric meter needs to be changed out and asking for paymen . . .
