WASHINGTON, Nov. 8 -- Rep. Jeff Fortenberry, R-Nebraska, issued the following column:
One hundred and one years ago on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the guns fell silent. The Great War that devastated Europe and took millions of lives had come to an end. On this Armistice Day, the United States and our allies commemorated the loss of our soldiers who perished on the poppy fields of Flanders, the cliffs of Gallipoli, and on countless battlefields across the globe. . . .
