WASHINGTON, Nov. 8 -- The National Audubon Society issued the following statement by Karen Hyun, vice president for coastal conservation, in response to a letter from Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt to Rep. Jeff Van Drew, D-New Jersey, ruling that sand from places protected by the Coastal Barrier Resources Act can be mined for beach renourishment:
