WASHINGTON, Oct. 31 -- Rep. Gwen Moore, D-Wisconsin, issued the following statement on the death of civil rights activist Mildred Harpole
"Mildred Harpole, a pillar in the community, devoted her life to bettering the people of Milwaukee. As a champion for justice, she was an educator in under resourced schools, who worked to integrate the Milwaukee public school system and used the tools at hand to educate and empower students.
