WASHINGTON, Oct. 31 -- Rep. Jim Cooper, D-Tennessee, issued the following statement regarding House passage of a resolution by a 232-196 vote to formalize the impeachment inquiry into President Trump's conduct in office:
"We have entered a new phase of the impeachment inquiry process.
"Evidence has been collected, witnesses have been deposed, and now there will be public hearings and procedures for the President and his counsel to respond to evidence.
