LANSING, Michigan, Oct. 29 -- The Michigan League for Public Policy issued the following statement by President and CEO Gilda Z. Jacobs on the House Judiciary Committee's passage of criminal legislation (H.B. 4980-4985) to expand and simplify the state's criminal record expungement process:
"Right now, nearly anyone who commits a criminal offense is being given a de facto life sentence. The repercussions of a criminal record haunt these individuals for the rest of their lives, . . .
