New York State Assembly Speaker Heastie Issues Statement on Commencement of First Early Voting Period

ALBANY, New York, Oct. 25 -- The New York State Assembly issued the following statement by Speaker Carl E. Heastie:
"Beginning on Saturday, for the first time ever New Yorkers will have the opportunity to vote early in the General Election. Legislation that was passed into law this year will deliver a more equitable voting process by offering a nine day early voting period.
"The Assembly Majority knows that voter participation is fundamental to our democracy. . . .
