Rep. Gallego Issues Statement on Protests in Chile

WASHINGTON, Oct. 23 -- Rep. Ruben Gallego, D-Arizona, issued the following statement regarding the protests in Chile:
"I am extremely concerned about the violence and protests occurring in Chile. Chile's democratization and progress on civil- and human rights over recent decades has been one of the great success stories in Latin America. The history of Chile shows that its leaders and people must not allow a return to violence and lawlessness, despite legitimate grievances.
