NEW YORK, Oct. 17 -- LatinoJustice PRLDEF issued the following statement by President and General Counsel Juan Cartagena:
Earlier today, the New York City Council held a vital vote on the plan to close Rikers. This vote was the result of many years of public pressure and organizing by impacted people. LatinoJustice applauds the results of today's vote.
