NEW YORK, Oct. 17 -- The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund issued the following news release:
Securing, advancing, and protecting the rights of Black voters and other communities of color has been a cornerstone of LDF's work since it was founded in 1940 by Thurgood Marshall. LDF secured its first voting rights victory at the Supreme Court in 1944 in Smith v.
