Mackinac Center for Public Policy Issues Statement on Michigan 'Raise the Age' Reforms

MIDLAND, Michigan, Oct. 17 -- The Mackinac Center for Public Policy issued the following news release by David Guenthner, senior strategist for state affairs, after the Michigan Legislature passed the bipartisan legislation that will stop the state from automatically prosecuting 17-year-olds as adults:

"Until now, Michigan was one of only four states that defaulted 17-year-olds to the adult justice system for prosecution and punishment.
