NEW YORK, Oct. 15 -- The Center for Economic and Social Rights issued the following joint statement with five organizations on the austerity, human rights in Ecuador:

- Fiscal policy cannot be imposed while ignoring people's rights, as the Indigenous peoples' protest movement in Ecuador has shown. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) must take responsibility and adopt corrective measures.
