WASHINGTON, Oct. 10 -- Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, ranking Republican member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued the following joint statement with Chairman Eliot L. Engel, D-New York, on protests in Iraq:
"We urge the government of Iraq to respect the fundamental right of the Iraqi people to freely assemble and peacefully protest.
"Use of force against protestors is unacceptable, and there must be accountability for those who have engaged in vio . . .
