WASHINGTON, Oct. 10 -- Rep. Eliot L. Engel, D-New York, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued the following joint statement with Ranking Member Michael T. McCaul, R-Texas, on protests in Iraq:
"We urge the government of Iraq to respect the fundamental right of the Iraqi people to freely assemble and peacefully protest.
