WASHINGTON, Oct. 10 -- Rep. Nita Lowey, D-New York, chairwoman of the House Appropriations Committee, issued the following statement after announcing that she will not seek re-election in 2020:
"After 31 years in the United States Congress, representing the people of Westchester, Rockland, Queens and the Bronx, I have decided not to seek re-election in 2020.
"It is my deep honor and privilege to serve my community and my country, and I will always be grateful . . .
