WASHINGTON, Sept. 27 -- Rep. Eliot L. Engel, D-New York, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued the following joint statement with Ranking Member Michael T. McCaul, R-Texas, on protests in Egypt and reports of detention of protestors and journalists:
"The United States places the highest value on freedom of expression and freedom of the press.
