WASHINGTON, Sept. 25 -- Rep. Peter DeFazio, D-Oregon, issued the following statement in support of the House opening an impeachment inquiry:
"This is a dark day for America's representative democracy. The president has admitted to soliciting assistance from a foreign leader to interfere with U.S. elections and aid his political campaign, which is a violation of the Constitution, a betrayal of the American people, and an impeachable offense. His grave actions threaten our nation . . .
