PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island, Sept. 21 -- Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-Rhode Island, issued the following news release:

Citing a significant uptick in the number of human cases of the Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) in New England this year, U.S. Senators Sheldon Whitehouse and Jack Reed are urging the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to increase federal assistance for Rhode Island to help contain and combat the deadly virus.
