MEMPHIS, Tennessee, Sept. 5 -- The U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee, D. Michael Dunavant, issued the following news release:
Tanner Penwell, 22, pleaded guilty to using unlawful force on an inmate while Penwell was serving as a correctional officer with the Tennessee Department of Corrections.
"This type of behavior and violation of an inmate's civil rights will not be tolerated," said Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband of the Departme . . .
