WASHINGTON, Aug. 14 -- Rep. John B. Larson, D-Connecticut, chairman of the House Ways and Means subcommittee on Social Security, issued the following statement in honor of the 84th anniversary of President Franklin D. Roosevelt signing Social Security into law:
