NEW YORK, Aug. 13 -- The New York State Metropolitan Transportation Authority issued the following news release:

- Public Pilot Started May 31 at 16 Subway Stations, Staten Island MTA Buses;

- Customers Average Rate of 22,000 Taps onto Subways and Buses Every Weekday;

- 80% of Taps Came from Digital Wallets, Exceeding Retail Industry Usage Rate
