WASHINGTON, Aug. 12 -- Reps. Jerrold Nadler, D-New York, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, and Zoe Lofgren, D-California, chairman of the Subcommittee on Immigration and Citizenship, issued the following joint statement in response to the Homeland Security Department's final rule to prevent the immigration of individuals based on the Department's mere suspicion that such individuals may one day use lawfully available public benefits:
