AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 8 -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency issued the following news release:
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded more than $5.6 million to the City of Friendswood through the Texas Division of Emergency Management to purchase and demolish 26 flood-prone homes impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
After the homes are removed, the land will be maintained as open space to reduce future flood dama . . .
