PEN America: Court Upholds California Student Publication's Right to Sue

NEW YORK, Aug. 5 -- PEN America issued the following news release:

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the First Amendment rights of a satirical student publication that had its funding jeopardized by a public university. In a statement today, PEN America called the ruling an important affirmation of free speech and press freedom on campus.
