NEW YORK, Aug. 2 -- New York City Comptroller Scott M. Stringer issued the following statement on the recommendation to terminate Police Officer Daniel Pantaleo:
"The recommendation to terminate Officer Pantaleo is welcome news -- if five years too late.
"Now this guidance should be followed and Officer Pantaleo should be fired. This long overdue and much-needed judgement is an important step in the fight for basic police accountability. I hope and pray that . . .
