WASHINGTON, Aug. 1 -- Rep. Nita M. Lowey, D-New York, chairwoman of the House Appropriations Committee, issued the following statement after the Senate passed bipartisan legislation to raise budget caps and suspend the debt ceiling:
"I am pleased this bipartisan agreement rejects the President's reckless budget proposal, increases funding for critical domestic priorities, and removes the threat of sequestration once and for all.
